Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program - How to Apply

Overview

Starting Date - The Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program is a two year program, for singers, coach-accompanists, conductors and directors, which run from approximately September through May, with a break while Washington National Opera is not in season.

Stipend- Each Young Artist receives a monthly stipend of $2,100 during their residency in the Program. In addition to the stipend, Young Artists are paid AGMA rates when performing or covering roles on the main stage of Washington National Opera.

Age Limit -There is no age limit for the Young Artist Program, though nearly all participants are in their twenties.


How To Apply

All Young Artists in the program participate in vocal and dramatic coaching, voice lessons, daily intensive language classes, master classes, career development resources, numerous performance opportunities, both through the Program and on the main stage, and the opportunity to work with Plácido Domingo. 

The Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program is designed as a two-year opera training program.  All general auditions for prospective Young Artists will be held in November 2011.
