Overview
STARTING DATE
The Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program
runs from approximately mid-August through May. After a two-month break, when Washington National Opera is not in season,
the contract may be renewed for an additional year.
STIPEND
Each Young Artist receives a monthly stipend of $2,100 during
their residency in the program. In addition to the stipend,
Young Artists are paid AGMA rates when performing or covering
roles on the main stage of Washington National Opera.
TRAVEL / HOUSING ALLOWANCE
A one time travel/housing allowance of $1,500 is provided.
Young Artists, however, are expected to make and pay for their
own travel arrangements to move to Washington, D.C., and to
find and pay for their own housing while a resident here.
The program is happy to advise on these matters and, if necessary,
to assist in obtaining visas.
AGE LIMIT
There is no age limit for the Young Artist Program.
