Renée Fleming, one of the greatest sopranos of our day, makes her WNO debut as the infamous Lucrezia Borgia, a role she shares with Sondra Radvanovsky. After the Borgia palace is defaced, Lucrezia demands the desecrator’s death. When Gennaro (Giuseppe Filianoti)
is arrested for the crime, Lucrezia’s thirst for vengeance sets in motion a tragic chain of events that eventually destroys her enemies—and herself. WNO General Director Plácido Domingo conducts this tour de force.
