Libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte
Production from Houston Grand Opera
Sung in Italian with English supertitles
The running time for this production is approximately three hours and six minutes including one 20-minute intermission.
The Figaro story continues in what is often considered Mozart's most perfect opera. After his marriage to Rosina, now the Countess Almaviva, the Count's palace is filled with a tangled web of love affairs. The pageboy Cherubino courts the Countess while the Count pursues the maidservant Susanna who is betrothed to the wily Figaro. With a nearly flawless blend of music and theatricality, The Marriage of Figaro is conducted by Patrick Fournillier and set in a gorgeous production originally conceived by Göran Jarvefelt and directed by Harry Silverstein.
