WNO Revival
Sung in English with English supertitles
The running time for this production is approximately two hours and 55 minutes including one 25-minute intermission.
WNO's critically acclaimed production, which received rave reviews in Los Angeles, Chicago, and San Francisco, is back! George Gershwin miraculously melds classical music, popular song, jazz, blues, and spirituals into iconic American songs like "Summertime," "I Got Plenty O' Nuttin'" and "Bess, You Is My Woman Now." This quintessential American masterpiece follows the story of a crippled beggar and the headstrong woman he loves. Porgy and Bess℠ is directed by Francesca Zambello and conducted by American music specialist John Mauceri.
The original production was made possible by a generous gift from the Eugene B. Casey Foundation.
