Peter Grimes (Christopher Ventris) is accused of murder when his apprentices keep mysteriously dying. Only Ellen Orford (Patricia Racette) has faith in the tortured fisherman, but even that is not enough to save him. Britten’s turbulent, sea-tossed score, conducted by Ilan Volkov, comes vividly to life in Paul Curran’s psychologically gripping production.
